I think this is the first time I’ve gotten sick after a marathon. They say the immune system takes a hit right after the race and one week later I have a cold. Feel extremely tired and a runny nose. Still got about 3 in today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I just registered for NYC today. I hope I stay motivated and train as well as I did for Boston…otherwise that is a waste of a lot of money.

I’m not sure what hurt more today…recovering from Boston still (which I am) or trying to run with two days off??? I felt really tight from those two days off, but mentally and physically I needed that. I got to spend all day Sunday with my kids (and mowig the lawn) without worrying about my long run…it was great. My four year old told me it was ‘the best day ever’.
Still just running how I feel. Not pushing anything yet.
Workout:
70* sunny. soreness gone…still tired.

A little sore today…ok…a lot sore.

The weather was just about perfect. I had a good person to run with who had a similar goal to mine and the crowds were awesome. I ran a PR by about 2.5 minutes pulled along the last 5 miles by the cheering crowds.
My splits were pretty consistent… 5:56.7, 5:41.6, 5:46.5, 5:54.9, 5:48.0, 5:50.1, 5:50.2, 5:45.0, 5:40.0, 5:47.0, 5:48.9, 5:35.9, 5:45.9, 5:37.7, 5:48.9, 5:36.1, 5:59.0, 6:02.6, 5:45.5, 6:05.4, 6:21.9, 5:42.7, 6:01.8, 5:56.2, 6:13.7, 7:35.1 (last 1.2 miles, which would be around a 6:05 mile). I was running good pace until I hit those 5:30’s and that cost me later on. We got a little excited at that point and ran with the wrong person who was shooting for sub 2:30. I believe if that would not have happened, all of my miles would have been under six except for maybe Heartbreak hill (6:21 miles).
This was the most patient marathon I’ve run so far and I look forward to putting what I learned today to use in a fall marathon. Thanks for the support you all have given me over the past couple of months.
In NY with Craig. Ran a nice comfortable 30 minutes.
