Kipp, If you had the ability to add this history to your logbook, would you? Well, you sort of can now, you could add an activity for the past… but the question is, do you add one per month, one per year, one per week?
So my questions for you is, if you wanted to add historical stats, what format would you like to add it in?
Do you have it in a spreadsheet? Do you have some other software package you use?
Oh yeah… great stats! Amazing really! At least to me.

Compared to an ironman, the mileage that I do doesn’t compare to the amount of time/effort an ironman trains.
I have most of it written in log books and the past couple years on an Internet log. I just added the yearly mileage onto the page so I would have record of it in case something would happen to my running logs (fire, lost, wife throws them away???). I’m a little obsessive I guess keeping track of every mile I’ve run over the past 13 years.
I wouldn’t mind being able to add the stuff for this year one per month if I could.

WOW! Now that’s some miles! I hope to reach that in my lifetime… Awesome for you!

Kipp,
I also have kept track of the miles I have run since 1994. I haven’t put in nearly as many miles as you have, but I enjoy tracking the mileage. My top year was around 1619. I like being able to look back and see what I was doing. What was my training like when I had that great run or PR.
Have you found any correlation with mileage and performance?

I don’t really do any other exercises like you do, so the mileage tends to add up. I have lifted in the past (hs and college) but not really much else than running.
My best years have been when I was in college and when I was running my most miles after college. I was actually running the same times for 5k without speed work and just doing mileage as when I was in college and doing speedwork.
Have you noticed a correlation with distance and performance?

Liz, Kate - never mind the mileage, just look at the speed - a target of sub 1:15 for a half marathon!
Kipp - Actually, despite what I’ve just said, that IS a lot of miles too. These are seriously impressive numbers - looks like you’ll do pretty much the same mileage on foot that I’ll cycle this year. And everyone I know thinks I cycle a lot!
