long run 40 degrees and spotless sky

best day of the year so far so i took advantage of it and ran a long run.  it was planned anyways, but i think we ran quicker because it was actually nice out.  ran 14 miles (old mill) in 1:32:46 + 2 miles on the fields (14:00).  it was a little breezy, but that helped keep the sweat off.  we really tried to hold back the first 8 miles or so and we didn’t think we were moving as quick as we were.

mileage is a bit low this week…but the pace is better.  still averaging sub 7:00 for the week (first time all year), but i’ll be under 80 for the first time in 4 weeks…which i planned on being under to help recover.

it’s almost spring

the past two days have been in the 40s and sunny with a slight breeze.  you can almost feel spring in the air.  nice 9.5 miles on the roads + extra on the fields to get 13 today.  starting to feel good and that 13 miles is a normal run…i think.  tomorrow have a 16 planned, hopefully i’m still feeling good then.  it will be a good indicator of how good of shape i truely am in.  if i recover well from two days of 13 and run tomorrow’s 16 under 7’s…then things are good.

nice 13 miles

40 degrees and sunny with a bit of wind.  the team shared glory day stories which always help the runs go by quickly.  9.5 miles on the road (65.46) and the rest on the trails to finish off 13 miles.  felt pretty good.  the foot is really infected from my other pair of running shoes now, but doesn’t bother me when i’m running…which is all that really matters.  wore another pair today…my ds trainers and things felt good.

248 miles ahead of last year at this time and feeling strong.

shoe digging into my foot

nice run except for this fold in the top of my shoes that has been digging into the top of my foot for the past two weeks+.  After yesterday, the foot got a bit infected and it really hurt today.  the good thing is the pain goes away after about 10 minutes of the shoe digging into the open wound.  ordered a new pair of shoes last night and will retire this pair now.

i’ve loved the nike skylons/haywards for the past couple years, but now they have stopped making them.  trying out the lunar glide…i think they are similar and i have heard good things about them from some friends.

keeping the streak alive at 67 days with every day but one being 8+.  starting to take care of the foot today…it should be fine tomorrow when i switch to the other pair of shoes (my favorites…asics ds trainers).

2 big macs

nice 8 mile run preceded with 10 minutes of core work followed by 2 big macs.  sometimes you just get a craving for a big mac and sometimes you have a coupon on your car seat for buy one-get one and so you have to eat two big macs on your way home.  first time this year i’ve given into the big mac craving on my way home from practice.  the first one went down so smoothly and after the second i started to feel a little sick.  mcdonald’s food is best a little bit at a time…probably would have been better if i would have splurged for the shamrock shake to wash it down.

the run was good.  i’m feeling recovered from last weeks mileage and will hopefully pile on the mileage at the end of this week.

easy run + hills sprints + form drills

pretty standard monday.  10.5 mile run.  the first 5 miles were pretty bad.  last five went well.  loosened up and was running pretty relaxed the last 5 miles.  added 8 x 8 second hill sprints and some form drills at the end.  the run went much better than expected after my longest week in a long time last week.  good day.

Old Man Run

weather was nice.  33 degrees and light snow.  legs just felt tired.  best mileage week in over a year.  no coffee.  before 8 am.  19 miles yesterday.  all that results in a painfully slow run.  besides feeling tired, i’m feeling healthy.  hopefully not running over the next 30 some hours will rejuvenate my legs.  next week i’m planning on an easy 70 some miles to recover from my mileage of february.

keeping the streak alive

62 days of at least 5.5 miles with mostly 8+ mile runs.  having the time and the energy to train right now and things are going well.  the little pains that crept into my legs a few weeks ago are now gone and i’m ready to keep it rolling.  i will have over 300 miles in both january and february with the goal of 300 next month yet.  it was a nice and easy night run tonight just to keep the mileage up…will get a nice long run in tomorrow with a friend.

Double for the Day - 8 miles

18 miles today total.  10 this morning and 8 this afternoon.  all easy mileage after yesterday.  snow day, so i had the day off of school and decided to get some mileage in before the weather turns nasty for the weekend.  felt better this afternoon than i was expecting.
